GameMaker-Pro-Alt provides tools for you to build video games. You do not need to learn complex code to start your first project. This software runs on Windows 11 and Windows 10 machines. It includes a workspace for art, logic, and sound management within a single interface.
Follow these instructions to set up the software on your computer.
When you open the application, you see several windows. The main window is your workspace. You use this area to place objects and assets. The panel on the right contains your game resources. You can drag and drop items here to build your game layout.
Click the play button at the top of the interface to test your game. This action opens a preview window. You can see how your game plays before you save your progress.
Start a new project by clicking File, then New Project. Give your project a name and choose a save location. The software creates a set of folders for your game files. Keep these folders in one place to avoid errors while you build your project.
Create a sprite for your player object. A sprite is an image that represents an object in the game. Add the sprite to an object. Then, put that object into a room. A room represents a level in your game. You can create as many rooms as you need.
If the software does not open, check if your graphics card drivers are current. Antivirus software may sometimes flag new installations. If you see a warning, confirm the file is safe to let it run. Ensure that you run the installer as an administrator if you encounter permission errors during setup.
